About Blessing Home
The name Blessing Home was thought of one evening 2 years back during one of those sleepless nights. Some people asked me, “Why Blessing Home?” I am a buddhist who believes that blessing others is a blessing in itself. I will endeavour to help everyone to the best of my ability, regardless of religion and race. After all, our society is often in need of a little more love. My personal journey includes helping people in the halfway house to look or jobs, providing hospital equipments to needy and also spending time with patients in the hospice. It is always a reminder to me that as long as I am still able to give, I am in every sense blessed.
Despite being a dog lover, the intertwining of my life with cats began in the year 1999, the year where culling of strays started. The first cat, April, was rescued on my birthday and that started my journey of providing a haven for animals. Once they enter Blessing Home, they are no longer strays, but a dignified animal with a name to be called by.
Although many people will think that I bless the strays, I feel that I am the one who is blessed. There are many things I give thanks for in my life. I am most thankful that even in the toughest of time, I am able to continue to bless others with the help of like-minded and compassionate generous soul. People who will pay for food to support some of the cats in my care while others will trust me with cat-sitting. I am thankful for my husband who has given me unwavering support and has been most patient with me.
Contentment
Blessing Home is also supported by two very unassuming unsung heroes. They are my lovely helpers, Mei Mei and Lah Lah, who are my left and right hands. Together with the 200 cats and 4 dogs, I thank them with all my heart.
Blessed Hands @ Blessing Home
Meanwhile, in times of the economic downturn and all the terrible things happening around the world, I will press on and in every possible way, help as many as I can to realise the vision of Blessing Home, to be a haven for all.
