A haven for me…

Shadow is my name… and I have a story to tell.

Shadow in loving arms

Shadow in loving arms

Shadow was only a kitten about 4 months old when she was found by a Malay girl in Bedok. All his four paws were beaten till his bones were crushed. It was appalling that people could abuse such a helpless kitten.

It was brought to me in this condition and told to let him recover by himself. He was so badly injured that he could not stand to use the cat litter box. It was then I realized it was impossible for him to recover by himself.

I brought him to the vet and the X-ray showed that his four paws were badly injured. The vet suggested that surgery be done to the hind legs but leaving the front paws to recover on their own. Shadow needed a lot of nursing so I bought a cot to let him sleep next to me. I had to nurse him like a little baby.

It was very stressful because I had to constantly nurse him and worry about him not recovering.

It was only 8 months later, that he finally stood up and walked. I was absolutely elated.

He grew up to be a cheeky boy. His way of getting our attention to let him out is to do his big and small business on our bed. He has this way of sitting down like a ball.

Do I really look like a ball?

Every time I see his deformed paws, I am both happy and sad. Happy that he has pulled through and sad that animal abuse is still rampant. He is still plagued by arthritis because of his injuries. Three years ago, I have started him on glucosamine to ease the pain in his joints.

look at my paws...

look at my paws...

One thing for sure is that he is now in loving arms… a haven for him to call his home.
